Create Online Quizzes in Easy Steps Using Socrative

Hello, everyone. Welcome back to another post! How are you? Hope you are doing well. 😃

In this post, I'd like to introduce another online tool called Socrative. Have you ever heard of this tool before?

This tool is extremely useful for teaching and learning as it can be used to create online quizzes. The quizzes made using Socrative can also be given to the students to work in real-time so it also works well during online learning. In addition, this tool allows teachers to track the students' responses to the quizzes, allowing the teachers to review each individual student's progress. Isn't it nice? 😏

So, without further ado, let's learn how to create online quizzes using Socrative in the following steps:

1. Open Socrative website: https://www.socrative.com/. If you are new to Socrative, you can sign up for free as a teacher by clicking the Login button, then click Sign up now!

You need to provide an e-mail and a password to make an account. If you've made an account previously, you can log in directly by clicking Teacher Login.

2. Next, click QUIZZES. After that, choose + ADD QUIZ and click Create New.

3. Now, you can begin generating your quiz. Firstly, you can give your quiz a title. After that, you can start generating your question items for the quiz. There are three types of quizzes that you can use: Multiple Choice, True / False, Short Answer

Click one of the types of quizzes to create your first question item. You can also insert a picture to each question. Here is an overview of each type of quiz:

  • Multiple Choice:

Type your question and the possible answers. Click + Add Answer to add more
possible answers. Add additional explanation about the answer if needed.
  • True / False:

Type your question and choose either True or False as the answer. Add additional explanation about the answer if needed.
  • Short Answer:

Type your question and provide the correct answer. (You may add more than 1 correct answer). Add additional explanation about the answer if needed.

4. To add the next question, click one of the types of quizzes you want to make under the question you make.

5. After you've finished making all your question items for the quiz, click Save and Exit at the top right.

6. To use the quiz with the students in real-time, click LAUNCH and choose either Quiz or Space Race

By clicking Quiz, you will assign the students an individual quiz and by clicking Space Race, you will assign the students to do the quiz in pairs. Then, copy the code of your room.

Ask your students to log in as a student through the Socrative website: https://b.socrative.com/login/student/ and write down the code. After the students have finished the quiz, teachers can check the students' progress in the RESULTS section by clicking Finish

You'll be directed to the REPORTS section where you can see your students' participation and answer.

So, those are the steps to create online quizzes using Socrative! In addition, I've made a quiz using Socrative which you can access here: https://b.socrative.com/teacher/#import-quiz/58536227. You need to make a teacher account in order to import the above quiz and its answers to your Socrative account. But, you can also see an overview of my quiz by signing in as a student here:  https://b.socrative.com/login/student/ and put the following code: IRAWAN1534

Overall, Socrative is a useful tool to create online quizzes and a wonderful platform for teachers to review the students' progress. By giving the opportunity to review students' answers during the quiz, teachers could identify the students' strengths and weaknesses and it helps the teachers to assess students' knowledge. I hope this post could help you create online quizzes much easier using Socrative. Good luck, everyone! Can't wait to hear about your experience using Socrative with your students! 😏
