Jump-Start your Class with Quizlet

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to another post. How are you doing? I hope you are all doing great. 😊

Readers, in this post I would like to talk about another tool to help your teaching inside the classroom. The tool is called Quizlet. Have you ever heard about it?

Quizlet is an online tool that allows us to create a lesson in the form of flashcards containing the target terms and their definition. Later on, these flashcards can be transformed into different types of exercises and games. Sounds fun, right? 😃 With Quizlet, the learning activities inside your classroom will be interesting and varied. So, without further ado, let's learn how to create flashcards using Quizlet through the following steps:

1. Open https://quizlet.com/login?redir=https://quizlet.com/latest and sign up. You can sign up by providing your email or using your Google or Facebook account. If you've made an account previously, you can directly log in.

2. Click Create and choose Study set

After that, you can write your lesson title and fill in the description.

3. And then, you can start writing the terms that you want to teach together with their definition. You can also insert an image for every term by clicking IMAGE.

4. To add more terms and their definition, click + ADD CARD at the bottom of the page. And after you've finished writing all of the terms, click Done.

5. Your lesson is finished! Now, I will talk about how to transform flashcards that you made into exercises and games to review the term and definition. The variations of the exercises are classified into 2 categories: STUDY and PLAY section.

STUDY Section offers multiple types of exercises while the PLAY section offers some fun games. Here is a short summary of the function of each tool:

a. STUDY Section
  • Flashcards: to review the term and the definition
  • Learn: a multiple-choice exercise
  • Write: a short-answer exercise
  • Spell: a spelling exercise (students listening to the term spoken) accompanied with the definition
  • Test: a compiled exercise including short-answer, matching, multiple-choice, and true-false exercise
b. PLAY Section
  • Match: a matching game (matching the term and the definition) with time duration
  • Gravity: a short-answer game
  • Live: a live game to play with more than 2 students (can either practice the term or definition)
6. Lastly, you can also share the lesson created using Quizlet by clicking the circled button. You can share your lesson via email, Google Classroom, Remind, MS Teams, or copy the Quizlet link provided.

So, that concludes my post for today. By the way, I've made an English lesson about human body parts for grade 6. Feel free to check it here: https://quizlet.com/id/591243830/parts-of-the-human-body-flash-cards/?x=1jqt.

I would say Quizlet is very effective for the students to learn and recall the learning materials. In addition, the wide variety of exercises and games will make the students interested and enthusiastic!

I hope my post could help you understand how to make a lesson using Quizlet. See you in the next post, everyone. Stay safe and healthy! 😊
