Enrich your Virtual Classroom with These Wonderful Platforms!

Hello, readers! How are you doing? Hope you are in a good condition. :)

Readers, since the pandemic, we have been staying at home and having online learning. We no longer meet our teachers or students face-to-face and we use video conference applications such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams instead. However, things can get really boring for students if there are barely any variations of learning. Teachers may try several platforms to deliver the lessons so that students would be interested and refreshed during their learning!

In this post, I will cover 5 free platforms that can be used during online learning. These platforms have been tried by my CALT classmates for delivering English lessons, and all of them are approved to be effective, interesting, and even helpful for the teachers as well! So, what are you waiting for? Let's check them out! 😏

1. Edpuzzle (https://edpuzzle.com/)

Edpuzzle is an online platform that helps teachers to create customized lesson videos. Teachers can add questions to the video and ask the students to answer them while they watch the video. Learning using this platform becomes student-paced because the students answer their questions on their own without the teachers clicking or pausing the video. In addition, teachers are also able to track the students' progress through this platform so teachers can easily measure the understanding of the students.

To understand more about this platform, have a look at my friend's video lesson here: https://edpuzzle.com/media/60b0843c68effe416083e7a9. (Group 1)

2. Edmodo (https://new.edmodo.com/)

Edmodo is an online platform where teachers can give learning materials, instructions, and assignments to the students. Edmodo is also known as "Facebook for School" which means it serves as a place for the teachers and students to connect, communicate and collaborate with each other. There are many features that are helpful for the teachers in Edmodo. Teachers are able to share videos, audio, pictures, and links. In addition, Edmodo also offers lots of educational videos that teachers can use as their references.

3. Class Dojo (https://classdojo.com/)

Class Dojo is an online platform which function is similar to Edmodo's. It is a platform where teachers and students could interact with each other. Teachers can share assignments, learning materials, etc through this platform.

To understand more about this platform, have a look at my friend's virtual class in Class Dojo by signing in as a student here: https://student.classdojo.com/#/login?redirectTo=%2Fstory and put the code: GSSJEW. (Group 3)

4. Sevima Edlink

Sevima Edlink is an online platform where students could interact with other students and teachers in a discussion forum, have a video conference, and do assignments or quizzes. This platform is also an android-based application and it could be downloaded on the play store through this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=id.co.sevima.edlink&hl=in&gl=US. As a result, it eases both the students and the teachers to interact and communicate with each other as they just need to use their phones to access the platform. Hence the learning would be more effective and efficient.

5. Socrative (https://www.socrative.com/)

Socrative is an online platform where teachers can give students an online quiz in real-time. In Socrative, the teachers can give feedback to each question so that students could get additional information related to the questions in the quiz. In addition, teachers can also track the students' progress in Socrative, allowing them to assess the students' knowledge of the lesson.

Hopefully, this post could give you an insight on how to enrich your virtual classroom by benefitting from the free online platforms above. I believe the use of these platforms will have a really incredible impact on the students as the platforms have many interesting features that will make the learning session rewarding. I wish you all the best in experimenting with these platforms! 😊
